KIMS has experienced a dramatic increase in demand, with patient figures growing nearly sixfold and expected to climb further.

In 2015, the hospital treated 21,420 outpatients. By 2023 this figure had surged to 127,437. Similarly, the number of in-patients and daycare cases has seen significant growth.

When planning permission was granted in 2008, it was projected that 25% of its procedures would involve NHS patients. However, NHS services now make up over 40% of its work.

The hospital’s workforce has also expanded significantly, from 109 employees in 2014 to 496 in 2023, alongside an additional 276 contracted staff on-site.

This rapid growth has put considerable pressure on the hospital’s parking facilities. Since opening in April 2014, the site has provided 380 parking spaces. However, with patient numbers forecast to grow by another 15% this year and staff numbers by 10%, additional capacity is essential.

Maidstone Council has now approved a proposal for a 229 space car park.
