Cygnet Health Care open £18m hospital

30th January 2019

Cygnet Hospital Maidstone has also been officially opened at Kent Medical Campus following an 18-month construction programme.

Mayor of Maidstone, Councillor David Naghi, who cut the ribbon to open the 65-bed hospital, joined representatives from Kent County Council, Maidstone Borough Council and the area’s healthcare professionals for a tour of the new £18m facility.

Tony Collins, Chairman of Kent Medical Campus team, said: “The new hospital offers excellent facilities and will be an integral part of the county’s healthcare provision. The quality of the build and fit-out epitomises our vision for the campus.

“With the groundworks on the step-down care facility under way and the campus already home to KIMS Hospital, Kent’s largest independent hospital, it means that we have delivered on our healthcare promise.

“We are working closely with many potential tenants and the proposed Innovation Centre will enhance what Kent Medical Campus has to offer.”

Commenting at the opening Simba Kaseke, hospital manager at Cygnet Hospital Maidstone said: “The new hospital has been purpose-built to meet the latest NHS specifications for improving mental health within a therapeutic environment and will ensure Kent patients can receive the treatment and care they need close to family and friends.

“All patients are referred and funded by the NHS. The hospital offers a wide range of services with the aim of ensuring patients’ swift rehabilitation and their successful return to their homes and local community.”
